Altech UEC announces the launch of the DSR831 Hybrid Satellite/IPTV Digital Video Recorder


Altech UEC, the South African based set-top box developer and manufacturer today announced the highly successful launch of their Hybrid digital video recorder (DVR) for ‘yes’ in Israel.

The DSR831 was developed specifically for ‘yes’, the Israeli DTH satellite service provider, in order to leverage their specific capabilities. 'yes' is in the unique position to offer subscribers a combination of satellite and IPTV services through existing and well established ADSL facilities and infrastructure.

Altech MediaVerge announces the deployment of the Showtime Arabia Show On Demand service


With the launch of the SHOW ON DEMAND service on August 1st, SHOWTIME customers will be among the first in the world to access a video on demand service via satellite, with the SHOWBOX (DSR3000 digital video recorder) developed and manufactured by Altech UEC. The complete SHOW ON DEMAND application, head-end utility and network integration services were provided by Altech UEC’s software development division, Altech MediaVerge and were designed to compliment SHOWGUIDE, the integrated Arabic and English Electronic Programming Guide (EPG) also developed by Altech MediaVerge.

Because the PVR will not only allow viewers to pre-record 80 hours of content onto its massive built-in 160 Gig hard drive, but it will also automatically record the past two hours of whatever programme is being watched.
